Google Search - Australia no longer feeling lucky

Aussies using Google have noticed they are caught in the middle of a recent conflict between Google, and the Australian Government over the newly proposed News Media Bargaining Code.

Aussies have a dependency on Google

93% of our online experiences begin with search engines. According to The Australian Bureau of Statistics, Google is by far the most used search engine in Australia. As of May 2019, they hold a market share of 95%, followed by Bing with 3.5% and DuckDuckGo with 0.5%.

Talk #1 - Fluxor + C#9 - Redux Pattern in Blazor WebAssembly with Chris Clement

Redux pattern is well-known in front end development to represent a view with complex logic with an immutable state, updated by a predictable pure function.

In this lightning talk, Chris will discuss how to implement the redux pattern in a Blazor WebAssembly project using Fluxor with the latest .NET 5 Preview 8 and C#9 capabilities to implement the states, actions, and reducers.

Talk #2 - EF Core Query Tags and logging with Jernej "JK" Kavka

NET Core allows us to log just about everything very easily, but when something goes wrong with SQL queries, how exactly do you figure out where it's coming from...?

This is where EF Core Query Tags comes into play, along with a couple of logging strategies, you'll never be confused by the intent and location of your queries again!

You will learn how to install and configure health checks, create custom health checks, leverage third-party health checks, add a health check dashboard, integration with Microsoft Teams, and integration with Azure DevOps. This talk is ideal for anyone with 10 minutes to spare who wants to learn more about health checks.

Chris Clement is an SSW Software Architect specialising in web development, specialising in Angular, .NET Core, and NodeJS. He is also experienced in many other technologies, such as Google Firebase, HTML & CSS, Java/Kotlin, SQL, Python, and Android.

Additionally, Chris is also experienced in embedded devices - particularly real-time systems and IoT device design and integration. Chris is experienced in interfacing real-world hardware with software, delivering the information gathered to the cloud.

Jernej "JK" Kavka is the main architect behind SSW's SophieAI: https://sswsophie.com/ where he got to use his current passion for machine learning, and cognitive services.

With around 10 years of experience in software engineering, Jernej has worked on full-stack .NET development, mobile applications, and Microsoft Cognitive Services. He worked for some of Australia's largest corporations, with great customer satisfaction.

Gabriel George is an SSW Senior Software Architect at the SSW Melbourne Office. He specialises in enterprise front-end development with various modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, and Vue. He also has experience with back-end technologies such as .Net Core and NodeJs.

He is a very motivated person that loves to share his knowledge with his peers. He loves to learn new technologies, especially the cutting edge ones.

Jason Taylor is a passionate developer, architect, trainer and mentor with 20 years of professional experience.

He has worked with .NET since 2001, and currently specializes in developing enterprise applications utilizing .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, EF Core, Angular, Vue, and Azure. Jason is an expert on Clean Architecture with .NET Core, and has one of the most sought after GitHub repos containing an awesome template for using Clean Architecture. Jason loves a challenge and is skilled at progressing from a simple proposal into a well-defined, coded, and tested solution.
