</Reminders to Read and Delete>

Dear [XXX],

As per our conversation, I am looking for bugs OR approval to release this version. Note: it's helpful for me to be able to work on a chunk of issues rather than just 1 at a time (this generally takes longer as I'll have to get my mind in the right space again)

I have checked:

Specific issues to look out for are:

CC the project manager [xxx@yyy.com] and the client [xxx@yyy.com] on new incidents

The latest version of [XXX] has been uploaded to \\frog\SSW\Download\[Application_verX-XX_beta.exe or http://www.ssw.com.au/Northwind/

  1. Keep in mind that a test-please is an urgent task and that it should start within the hour https://ssw.com.au/rules/request-a-test-please
  2. (For Win Form Application)Test on a fresh VPC image of Windows XP.
  3. (For Win Form Application)Test on a fresh VPC image of Windows Vista(32bit and 64bit).
  4. (For Win Form Application)Install into a non default directory
  5. (For Win Form Application)Check the installation folder for misplaced items
  6. Test Unit Tests via "Help - Run Unit Tests"
  7. (If Applicable)Test the "Create" and "Reconcile" buttons
  8. Test open and closing forms and saving values
  9. Test most buttons and menus and links
  10. Disable your network connection and test again (check for unhandled errors)
  11. Send suggestions/bugs one email at a time (in a new email) because:
    • It wastes space (due to the large table of incidents below)
    • It affects MSN Desktop search results as the email will contain all the incident's subject below.
  12. Know the definition of a bug https://www.ssw.com.au/rules/definition-of-a-bug
  13. Know what are good subjects https://www.ssw.com.au/rules/good-email-subject
  14. Do not reply to this message until you can say
"Test Please Succeeded (as no Critical bugs). You are ready to deploy."
    or
"Test Please Failed (as per Critical bugs reported)"
  15. If your test fails, please rename the executable to [Application_verX-XX_failed.exe]

Note to developer: If this version is better than the last version you can release (even with a test fail) as long:

  1. The bugs reported in the test fail existed in the old version
  2. Two people have tested it
  3. The changes in this version are fairly important to get out
  4. You get to work on the failures ASAP
