A Nasty Electrical Shock – 5 Tips to Avoid them ⚡☠️
Meet Simba, my daughter Ruby’s reward for smashing her HSC
results – over 95%, and that was during lockdown with no
teachers and plenty of isolation. I’ve instructed my wife to
stop making bets with Ruby. It’s awesome seeing her so happy,
they are best buddies. 💓
You may recognize his name from the Lion King. A Disney film in
which Simba inadvertently lures his father to his death, by
blindly blundering into his Uncle Scars’ evil plan… while our
Simba wasn’t following a diabolical plan, he did almost get me
killed.
Let me tell you what led to this shocking experience, and how to
avoid it.
Read on to see
how my dog almost killed me...

Build Multi-Platform Applications for Mobile,
Desktop and Web in .NET with the Uno Platform | Nick
Randolph
The open-source Uno Platform extends pixel-perfect
WinUI experiences built with C# and XAML to all
platforms where WinUI doesn't natively run on –
Web/WebAssembly, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android.
The ability to deploy the same UI codebase across all
platforms is a great productivity booster. But the
application lifecycle starts much earlier – at
design time. Uno Platform provides a Figma plugin,
which eliminates the timely designer-developer
handoff. In addition, the platform now provides a
set of non-UI extensions to help jump-start your
apps. Lastly, the VS Code extensions allows C# and
XAML to use VS Code with IntelliSense-like
experience, C# and XAML Hot Reload, and more.
In this session, you'll learn how you can create
applications spanning across multiple platforms and
device form factors, all while reusing your existing
XAML and C# skills.

Flexing Your Biceps with Azure - LIVE at SSW
Melbourne
No matter how hard we try, Azure Resource Manager
(ARM) JSON templates aren’t easy or fun to maintain
for enterprise platforms and applications.
Now we can flex our Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
muscles using a new tool called Azure Bicep.
Azure Bicep is a Domain Specific Language (DSL) that
puts the fun back into IaC development with a
simpler syntax, better code reusability and
modularity.
In this talk, we are going to start by exploring how
Bicep works, how we use it, and compare it to other
IaC options such as Terraform and Pulumi.
We will wrap up the talk with a live demo to deploy a
full-stack application to Azure.
